Biography

Gustavo Agosto-DaFonseca is a Director-at-Large for the School of Business Alumni Chapter, 2022-2023. He is a 2018 graduate of the MBA Program (Golda Cohort at Mason Square Campus), serving as Chief Operating Officer (Vice President) of the MBA Student Association (MBASA) from 2017 to 2018. In addition to his MBA studies at GMU, Gustavo completed a bachelor of arts in sociology and master of public administration degrees at Baruch College, City University of New York. He has served in the federal government for over ten years, primarily for the Department of Defense (DoD). Gustavo is currently a Labor and Employee Relations Officer for the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA) in Alexandria, Virginia. In this role, he advises DoD decision-makers and senior executives on a wide range of programs and policies impacting over 800,000 members of the DoD civilian workforce.

Additionally, Gustavo has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for over twenty years. He entered military service as an Enlisted Soldier in 2000 and earned promotions through Staff Sergeant (E-6). In 2008, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and currently serves as a Logistics Officer in the rank of Major (O-4). He has accrued over ten years of active duty service, with year-long tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He most recently served on a two-year active duty tour as a Strategic Logistics Plans Officer for the Department of the Army (HQDA) headquarters staff at the Pentagon from 2020 to 2022, supporting departmental-level continuity of operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
