Biography

Nirup Menon is a tenured professor of Information Systems and Operations Management at the Costello College of Business at George Mason University. Most recently, Nirup has held administrative positions as Associate Dean and as Area Chair at Mason. He has been with Mason for 14 years, and prior to coming to Mason was a faculty member at the Instituto de Empresa Madrid, The University of Texas at Dallas, and Texas Tech University for over 10 years. He is currently the Co-Director of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer program at Mason.

Nirup’s research interests lie in healthcare information technology, information security and privacy, economics of information systems, online platform strategies, and econometric modeling. Nirup has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and a book, and presented his research at numerous conferences. His teaching includes information security management and advanced data mining. His work has been funded by Virginia Commonwealth Cyber Initiative among others. He serves/served on the editorial boards of several top-tier academic journals, and on review panels for NSF and NIH. He has consulted on industry projects for SAP America, Vencore, Fairfax County, and Arlington County, among others.
