Biography

Amanda Houlihan graduated from George Mason in 2015 with a B.S. in marketing. During her time at Mason she was a four-year member of the Women’s Rowing team and a student athlete mentor.

Amanda is an account manager at a leading biotech communications agency. Promoted steadily since joining the firm about five years ago, Amanda acts as the primary client contact and provides counsel and strategy for biotech companies working in varying therapeutic spaces in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Amanda develops and implements comprehensive communications strategies, proposals and plans for overall communications, media relations, social media and thought leadership. She develops corporate messaging, liaises with journalists to secure media coverage and trains and prepares senior executives for media interviews. Amanda drafts content such as press releases announcing company launches, financings, clinical trial results and other business critical milestones. She has led multiple website projects, which entail creating all the content, managing the creative process and ensuring the project stays on time and on budget. She manages and develops social media campaigns for several corporate social media accounts as well as the CEO account for one of her clients. Amanda also acts as a project manager for a wide range of projects including corporate decks, symposia, logo development and scientific animations.

Amanda is well versed in communicating with various audiences, from training new employees to providing strategic counsel to her senior level clients. She is able to adeptly work with a wide variety of personalities and her positive attitude is infectious.

Amanda is interested in using her communications and project management experience and skillset to help the Alumni Chapter organize and communicate their various initiatives and programs/events to their target audiences. She has experience managing multiple timelines and projects as well as managing and leading teams in her role in corporate communications and as a rowing coach, which was a role she held part time prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
