To declare a School of Management major—accounting, finance, information systems and operations management, management or marketing—contact the Office of Academic and Career Services (703-993-1880) to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor who will provide information on major choices, required courses, and the admission process for the School of Management.
The advisor will sign the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form and advise you on appropriate classes for your next semester.
To change your major from the School of Management to another at Mason, schedule a change of major appointment with your new major department. If you are uncertain of what major you want to declare, contact University Academic Advising located in Room 304 of SUB I (703-993-2470) to explore other majors.
Complete the top portion of the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form, have your new department sign it, and bring the form to the Office of Academic and Career Services, Room 008 of Enterprise Hall for signature. The completed form then goes to the Registrar for final processing.
If you select a non-School of Management major, you may wish to consider selecting a business minor. For more information about our minor, click here.
Double Major in the School of Management
If you are currently declared in BS status for one of the School of Management’s majors and wish to add another School of Management major, you should complete the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form and bring it to Office of Academic and Career Services, Room 008 of Enterprise Hall, for advisor review and processing. All requirements for the two School of Management majors must be completed prior to graduation. It is recommended that you schedule an academic advising appointment to discuss the proposed double major and do a long-term plan towards graduation.
If you are considering adding a second degree, you can earn both degrees at the same time (concurrent), or complete the first degree prior to finishing the requirements of the second degree (sequential).
For concurrent degrees, you must earn a minimum of 150 credits and meet all the requirements of both degrees. Please schedule an appointment with the new second degree academic advisor to discuss requirements, sign and process the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form.
For sequential degrees, please see a School of Management academic advisor.
