2. PROFESSIONAL DRESS
Appropriate interview attire is an essential aspect of the job search process. Your image conveys your professionalism and your understanding of the industry in which you are trying to be employed. Wearing inappropriate dress can have an effect on whether or not you receive a second interview, or even a job! 

 

Men
DO!          
  • Conservative dark navy, black or gray two piece suit
  • Clean and polished conservative dress shoes
  • Long-sleeved button-down dress shirt
  • Well-brushed teeth/fresh breath
  • Cleaned and trimmed fingernails
  • Bring a briefcase or a professional folder
DON’T!
  • Excessive cologne
  • Gum, candy, or other objects in your mouth
  • Wrinkled or dirty clothing
  • Tie with flashy colors or patterns
  • Visible body piercing
  • White socks

 

Women
DO!          
  • Conservative skirted or pant suit
  • Closed-toe shoes with a conservative heel
  • Cleaned and trimmed fingernails
  • Keep skirt length a little below the knee
  • Well-brushed teeth/fresh breath
  • Clothing should be ironed and clean

  • Strong perfume
  • Excessive, large or flashy jewelry
  • Low cut or sleeveless tops

  • Visible body piercing beyond ear piercing
