Accreditation
The School of Management at George Mason University is accredited by AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB International is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.
Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting. The School of Management is one only 10 percent of business schools worldwide accredited in both business and accounting by the AACSB International.
AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, worldwide. George Mason University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Accreditation is important to higher education institutions because it permits our students to have access to federally-subsidized financial aid, allows our faculty to compete for federal research grants, and ensures that the courses and degrees our students earn will be recognized by other institutions.
Rankings
The School of Management’s Part-Time MBA program ranks high among universities in the Mid-Atlantic region according to BusinessWeek. The list of “Top Part-Time MBA” programs includes 200 universities, ranking the top thirty, designating twenty programs second tier, and leaving the remaining 150 programs unranked. The Mason Part-Time MBA was one of four programs designated as second tier in the Mid-Atlantic region, accompanying Virginia Tech, William and Mary, and the University of Virginia. 
U.S. News & World Report ranked SOM as 74th in the 2009 list of "Best Undergraduate Business Programs".
U.S. News & World Report named Mason as the nation’s number one university to watch on its 2009 list of "Up-and-Coming Schools"
Kiplinger''s Personal Finance Magazine has listed Mason as one of the "100 Best Values in Public Colleges" for the past three years; Mason was ranked 78 in 2007, 77 in 2008, and 46 in 2009.
Mason was included in The Princeton Review 2009 edition of "The Best 368 Colleges" based on its outstanding academics and the opportunities provided to students. It was also named as a Best Southeastern College and ranked 11 for diverse student population and 8 for most politically active students.
