Global Business Education

Recognizing the reality of today’s global economy, the School of Management (SOM) integrates a global focus in every part of the core curriculum. SOM’s global perspective programs include education, research, special programs and international partnerships.

At the graduate level, the School of Management is one of only six business schools in the country to require international residences for its graduate students. Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in the many study abroad and cross-cultural learning opportunities that SOM offers. These include traditional study abroad programs as well as the U.S.-China 1-2-1 Joint Academic Program and the Aachen, Germany Direct Exchange Program.

Beyond classroom integration, faculty research projects in current leading global business issues including offshore outsourcing, international financial risk, and comparative systems of innovation. Several faculty members have also participated in the Fulbright Scholar Program. SOM also hosts several annual conferences—including the Annual Global CIO Conference and the Mason Entrepreneurship Research Conference—that focus on global business issues and draw international participation.
