Capitalizing on Innovation

Jim Wolfe, management executive and George Mason University entrepreneur-in-residence, got his charge directly from former school President Alan Merten: Commercialize the intellectual property of a faculty member. Build a business. Develop a new revenue stream for Virginia's largest four-year university.
In other words, do what he does best.
"He said to me, 'Jim, you teach all these classes, that's great. But if you want to do something useful, why don't you help us start a company?'" Wolfe said, recalling his meeting with Merten several years ago.
