Schwartz has operated CPA and Business Advisory firms since 1984.  He has actively practiced public accounting for 25 years in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. His primary areas of experience and expertise include not-for-profit organizations, strategic planning, corporate governance, income tax and financial planning, traditional and non-traditional business finance, and business valuation.

Schwartz has worked with enterprises including professional service firms, telecom ventures, entrepreneurial services, retailers, wholesalers, franchises, trade-related industries and real estate ventures. Over the course of his career, he has been instrumental in the founding and operations of several diverse and now successful businesses, including the CPA firm, a $260 million publicly traded community bank (ANNB), an industrial real estate development and real estate management concern, and a unique commercial venture to photograph the 1993 Presidential Inaugural. Additionally, during 1993-1995, Schwartz orchestrated a successful interim turnaround management engagement.

Schwartz has served on Boards of Directors of for-profit enterprises, and on the boards of several not-for-profit, educational, community, and religious organizations. He is a member of the Executive and Strategic Planning Committees and chairs the Independent Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Annapolis Bancorporation and BankAnnapolis, and is the managing member of Dominion Advisory, LLC, a consulting and software development concern.

Schwartz serves as an adjunct professor of accountancy at The George Washington University where he teaches auditing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught accounting fundamentals and financial statement analysis and has taught cost accounting concepts to community bankers in Thailand. He is a Past President of the GWU Executive MBA Alumni Association, a member of The George Washington University Undergraduate Programs Advisory Council, Immediate Past President of Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation, and has served as a director and member of the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees of Reston Interfaith, Inc.

Schwartz is a frequent public speaker. Articles he has written have appeared in such publications as Medical Economics magazine.

Schwartz is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and of the Maryland and Virginia State CPA Societies. 

He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting major from the University of Florida in 1976 and his MBA from The George Washington University in 1995.
