CAE and CAE-R Designations
The National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have designated George Mason University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAE) and a National Center of Academic Excellence Information Assurance Research (CAE-R). George Mason is the only university in Virginia and one of only two universities in the Washington, D.C., region that has both designations.
NSA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) jointly sponsor the National Centers of Academic Excellence in IA Education (CAE/IAE) and CAE-Research (CAE-R) programs. The goal of these programs is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in IA and producing a growing number of professionals with IA expertise in various disciplines.
