  • An invitation to participate in key activities produced by the School of Management Alumni Chapter or Mason’s Alumni Association

Award recognition and announcement of winners will take place during the Annual Business Alumni Celebration on Friday, October 4, 2013.

MassMutal National Scholars is a national scholarship program for high achieving college students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic descent interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industry.

MassMutual is focused on expanding access and opportunity of higher education and employment to students who reflect the rich cultural diversity of our nation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic descent.
  • Must show proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent  residency with a permanent  resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Plan to attend a degree-seeking program, full-time at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the
  • 2013-2014 academic year.
  • Will be entering sophomore, junior, senior or 5th-year senior year in pursuit of an undergraduate degree at an accredited  college or university.
  • Students of all majors will be considered.

Preference will be given to students who demonstrate:

  • An interest in pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry.
  • Leadership and participation in extracurricular activities.

Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Selected students attending  accredited 2 year and 4 year colleges/universities will be awarded $2,500 or $5,000 respectively.
A total of$150,000 in scholarships will be awarded for the 2013-14  school year.

Scholarships
The Alumni Association is pleased to offer five scholarships ranging between $1,500 and $2,500 to deserving undergraduate and graduate students. These scholarships are traditionally awarded to students who display academic merit, demonstrated leadership, community service, and commitment to George Mason University. The Alumni Association scholarship application is now online! Golden Quill Society
Now in its third year, The Golden Quill Society inspires continued leadership among a select group of young alumni by facilitating the transition from student leadership to young alumni engagement. Through the auspices of volunteer leadership and philanthropy, the Golden Quill Society builds a lifelong connection between George Mason University and a core group of dedicated alumni. Students in their senior year are invited to apply for the Golden Quill Society and will remain a part of the society for the four years immediately following graduation. If you know an outstanding graduating student, please consider nominating this individual for the Golden Quill Society. The Boren Scholarship Info session has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, November 27, from 3-4 PM in the HUB Meeting Room 2.

A representative from the Boren Scholarships and Fellowships will be available to talk about the program and the application process.

The Boren Scholarship is a prestigious national program that supports long-term study abroad of critical languages that meet U.S. national security needs. Upon graduating, recipients are required to complete one year of federal employment in exchange for receiving the scholarship. To be competitive, students must study a critical language in a non-European country for a minimum of 6 months.

The campus deadline is January 10, 2013.
