The City Manager’s Fellowship Program is a 12-month highly competitive program that trains future municipal leaders. Each year, one to three fellows will be selected for this elite opportunity. The fellowship provides recent graduates the opportunity to work closely with the City Manager, to work directly with leaders throughout community, and to work on high-priority projects. The fellows will work in a research focused environment, will develop management skills, will gain exposure to local government, and will gain a unique view of city departments and operations. The fellows will perform rotational assignments in the City Manager’s Office, the Office of Budget and Grants Management, and will work directly with other departments throughout the city.
The 2014-2015 annual salary for the City Manager’s fellow is $35,717.99. An additional $5,000 Explore Norfolk Incentive will be provided to fellows who establish residency in the city within 30 days of the start date of the program. City Manager’s Fellows will be eligible for medical, dental, and vision care.
After the Program: Building a Career
