United Nations Global Compact Symposium: Honoring Our Commitment
November 19th, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dewberry Hall and JC Cinema
George Mason University, Fairfax Campus
The Symposium is free and open to everyone at Mason.
One of the first American universities to join the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), George Mason signed on in 2012, shortly after Ángel Cabrera became president. The UNGC is a strategic policy initiative for businesses and other organizations committed to aligning their operations and strategies with 10 widely accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anticorruption.
In July, we issued the first annual “Communication on Progress,” which covers UNGC-related activities on campus during the 2012-13 academic year. The report is available at http://green.gmu.edu/about/ungc.html, where you can also register to attend the Symposium.
Honoring Our Commitment inaugurates an annual tradition that will bring the Mason community together to:
- Celebrate the international reach of our curriculum, scholarship, and student body.
- Reflect on how well we are honoring our UNGC commitment, both academically and operationally.
- Identify opportunities for deepening our UNGC commitment in the coming year.
- Affirm our intention to pursue these opportunities as we become a university for the world.
