Office of Student Media – Advertising Director

Job Description:
The Office of Student Media advertising director supervises and coordinates all aspects of advertising for the print, online, radio and cable media groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities are split between developing new business leads and managing customer relationships and recruiting, supervising and training a 4-member student advertising staff.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Work with Student Media directors, advisers and student media leaders to develop marketing strategies
  • Identify and cultivate potential advertisers, both on and off campus
  • Research trends in college media advertising and monitor competitors both on and off campus
  • Schedule ad staff
  • Develop job responsibilities and expectations for ad staff
  • Supervise follow up on all advertising inquiries in a timely manner
  • Work with advertisers to coordinate ad design and ad submission
  • Coordinate with business manager to complete invoicing and payments
  • Work with Student Media leaders on ad placements
  • Attend Student Media leader meetings
  • Attend on and off campus events as assigned
  • Create ad database of potential advertisers

Qualifications Include:

  • Customer service experience
  • Academic background in business, marketing, and/or communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Meet deadlines effectively
  • Comfortable learning new software programs and databases

Work Schedule Requirements Include:

  • Minimum of 20 hours dedicated weekly
  • Flexibility of hours Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with some hours required on Friday
