Govt 367 to Fulfill Upper Level Econ Requirement

Govt 367 “Money Markets and Economic Policy” will be offered in spring 2013. This course will fulfill the upper level ECON requirement for School of Management Majors.

The idea behind the course is to introduce undergraduates to economic principles in a way that gives them immediacy and relevance by organizing them around a dozen or so fundamental questions:

Why are some countries rich and others poor?
Why did communism fail? Is globalization good for Americans?
Why are incomes becoming more unequal?
Why do health care costs rise faster than everything else?

In the process of answering those and other questions, students are exposed to all the basic concepts of economics and asked to apply them in analyzing why things are the way they are and what might be done to make them better.
