Study Abroad: Chinese Language and Business Study

This summer be a part of the Chinese Language Study and Business Abroad in Beijing, China and go on two excursions:

• A trip to Inner-Mongolia during a long weekend
• A tour of The Great Wall of China

Dr. Yan Ling will lead the business portion of the study program in China.  Dr. Ling is an Associate Professor in George Mason University’s School of Management.  Dr. Ling obtained her PhD in business administration from the University of Connecticut, and received her undergraduate degree from Central University of Finance & Economics in China.

Dr. Ling teaches courses in strategic management and entrepreneurship at both graduate and undergraduate levels.  Her primary research focuses on top management issues as they pertain to small, privately-held firms including family businesses and new ventures. She is interested in how the top-level management of small, privately-held firms is different from that of large, publicly-held organizations.

Students will receive credit for MSOM 305: Managing in the Global Environment which satisfies the gen ed requirement for Global Understanding.  As an alternative, students can sign up for MGMT 499: Independent Study with Professor Yan Ling (Email Dr. Ling: yling@gmu.edu for details).
