Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. – Project Accountant

Position Description:
Kimley-Horn is one of the nation’s most comprehensive and best respected civil engineering and land planning firms. They are looking for an energetic, team-oriented person to join their Reston, VA Accounting Department.  This position is responsible for all aspects of project accounting including, but not limited to the following:

  • Work with Project Managers in a variety of disciplines
  • Perform MIS project setup, monthly financial analysis and on-going revenue recognition
  • Ensure all billing transactions are completed and accurately recorded in MIS system
  • Prepare invoices and complete monthly billing
  • Assist in collection of Accounts Receivables
  • Contract management and review

Requirements:
Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree plus 0-4 years related experience, or Master’s degree plus 0-2 years related experience)
  • Required Major: Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to travel up to 2-3 days per month
  • Solid understanding of general accounting fundamentals
  • High degree of professionalism and strong people skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a deadline driven environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills a must
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using computerized accounting systems; knowledge of Deltek Costpoint system is a plus
  • Previous project accounting experience working with public agencies and private sector, specifically billing and accounting procedures
