Stangroom has more than twenty-six years’ experience in information technology working for organizations such as the FBI, Freddie Mac, American Red Cross, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. In his current position he is responsible for providing leadership in the Information Technology area which consists of 152 IT employees and a $32.5 million budget and services 47 states and 40 million consumers.

“I remember not being sure what to concentrate my studies on in the school of business, so one day I dropped in to meet with Dean Lloyd DeBoer. He gave me 15 minutes of his time and suggested information systems might be the place. So that’s what I tried. I keep a note on my desk about the big impact that small encounters can have on others,” Stangroom recalls about his decision to major in information systems.

Stangroom has received national recognition as Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader in 2005 and with a CIO 100 Innovation award in 2008.
