Hammel, Lovey

'88 BS in Marketing
President and Co-founder, Employment Enterprises, Inc.

Hammel co-founded Employment Enterprises, Inc., a staffing human resources outsourcing and consulting services company, in 1980. She enrolled in Mason after starting her own business and says, “The professors and entire campus became my business council. I was able to leverage the classroom/campus experience with my daily work environment.”

Hammel is currently a board member of Mason’s Board of Visitors, the Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce, and the Transitional Housing Barns, Inc. She is an executive committee member of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Women’s Forum of Washington, D.C., and was named Mason’s “Alumna of the Year.”

Through the years, Hammel has been surprised by how much she has remained connected to Mason, visiting campus once a month for an event or meeting. Her advice to students and fellow alumni: “Get out of your comfort spot–challenge yourself. A great saying my mom taught me:  When the door of opportunity opens, walk through it even if you don’t feel ready. The door closes and often will not open again.”
