Target Audience
The course is intended for the following audience
• Independent physician practitioners
• Managing directors of small to large practices involved in investment decisions
• Office managers and analysts responsible for preparing budgets and financial statements
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to: discuss critical concepts related to business management; including accounting terminology, benchmarking, contracting, business plans, negotiation techniques, retirement planning, funding, and other core aspects. Hands-on examples, case studies and practice ensure new knowledge and skills are transferable to the office.
Continuing Medical Education Credit
Prince William Hospital is accredited by the Medical Society of Virginia to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Prince William Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 22 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Each session is worth 5.5 credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Physician may claim up to 22 credits in Type 1 or Type 2 CME on the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for renewal of an active medical license.

George Mason University’s School of Management has developed a one-year course, delivered in four parts on Saturdays throughout the year. Management Essentials for Physicians' Practice specifically targets the critical needs of physicians’ office management teams. This series is designed for all physicians, whether practicing as employees or partners, from both large and small offices.
All classes will be held on the George Mason University Fairfax Campus. Some outside work and study may be required. This series will give all participants the core concepts that physicians must understand to interact with accountants, lawyers, and financial planners, as well as tools and strategies to run a successful medical practice.
AMA PRA Category 1 CME credit will be issued by Prince William Hospital, Manassas, VA.
