Karen Hallows is the academic director of the executive MBA program in the School of Management at George Mason University. She teaches undergraduate finance management courses and finance and economics courses in the MBA program and the technology management program.
Hallows has also taught at American University, Averett College, George Washington University, Florida Institute of Technology, the University of Missouri, and the University of Nebraska. She was an economic and policy analyst for the National Commission on Childhood Disability a legislative assistant/staff economist for Congressman Jim Slattery, responsible for covering international trade and health care issues; President of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, a non-profit educational organization; and Director of the Center for Economic Education at the University of Missouri.
Hallows is currently a content provider in finance and international finance for the Prentice Hall Learning on the Internet Program. She is the academic coordinator of the Business Journalism Program, which is a three-week summer program held for business reporters and editors at the University of Kansas. She has conducted several economics and finance tutorials for international journalists in conjunction with the Voice of America and USAID.
Hallows received a Celebration of Learning grant in 1998-99 to conduct a WebCT on-line course in financial management at George Mason University. She has written and published several articles and book chapters dealing with economic education and the financing of education.
Hallows holds a PhD in economics and finance from the University of Nebraska and a master's in economics from Purdue University. |
