Michael G. Ferri is a professor of finance and holds the distinction of George Mason University Foundation Professor of Finance at George Mason University. He received a PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ferri is a co-author, with Frank J. Fabozzi and Nobel Laureate Franco Modigliani, of Foundations of Financial Markets and Institutions (Prentice Hall), which has been translated into Spanish as Mercados e Instituciones Financieras. His papers have appeared in the Journal of Finance, Financial Management, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and other publications. Ferri is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Portfolio Management and several academic journals.
In 1994-1995, Ferri was a vice president of the Financial Management Association International. In Spring 1997, he was the Dale S. Coenen Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia's Darden School. In 1997-1998, Ferri was a senior research scholar at the Securities and Exchange Commission. From 2000 to 2001, he served as the Vice-President for Economic Research and Deputy Chief Economist of the Nasdaq Stock Market.
Ferri is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Board of Trade, and he was an NASD arbitrator. He has served as a consultant and as an expert witness in litigation and arbitration. At George Mason University, Ferri has held several administrative positions and was named the MBA Teacher of the Year (1992) and an Outstanding Faculty Member (1989). |
